International School Visit

Yesterday we visited Chalong International School to teach the kids there about the oceans plastic pollution, dive hand signs and show them some scuba equipment. We told them about where we are from and what we were here for.

First, Helen gave the class a presentation on the sea's plastic pollution, where she talked about just how much plastic is present in the ocean, it's effects on sea life and how you can make a difference, such as using reusable bags and bottles as well as recycling any plastic waste.

Helens Plastic Presentation

After Helens plastic presentation we asked the kids to draw their favourite sea animals! They drew lots of turtles, fish and sharks. By letting them borrow our books on Andaman Sea reef life they also learned much more about marine animals of the ocean too!

For the third part of the visit, we taught the kids underwater animal signs, from tiny boxfish to giant moray eels!!! Favourite signs for the kids included pufferfish, shark, crab and turtles!!

Turtles and Sharks!!

For the last part of the visit, Gregor showed the kids masks, snorkels and fins, demonstrating how they were used. After the team let kids try on the equipment. They seemed to really enjoy breathing through the snorkels and waddling around in the fins!

Overall we had a great experience teaching the kids at Chalong International School, and we hope they did too. We would also like to thank the school for letting us come visit for the morning!
