Sah wah dee khaa Thailand 🇹🇭

The team have now successfully completed their first week of dive training at COREsea, Koh Phangan! 🤿 There has been plenty of good boi's (see the photos below), LOTS of unbelievable Thai cuisine, hours of training above and below the water mixed in with a hell of a lot of hammock napping.. 😴 With monsoon season making us feel more at home, we are settling in nicely and are all full of anticipation for the weeks to come!!!

We are all officially research diving trained as of today, after completing almost two weeks of training and preparation for our research projects. We have been learning lots about the reefs of Koh Phangan, their health and the organisms in which we will be able to find out here. We have received thorough talks from the dive team here about the process of coral bleaching and it's trends over the last few years as well as fish and coral identification techniques to aid us in our surveys 🐠🪸. Additionally, we have received full training on how to conduct scientifically correct transect surveys and how to properly insert and analyse data. All extremely important skills which we will all utilise when carrying out the teams projects.

Yesterday, in celebration of World Ocean Day we carried out a large reef clean out in the Chaloklum Bay in association with the Koh Phangan Sea Guardian and Department of Marine and coastal resources where we successfully cleared multiple bags of fishing lines, cables and more from the reef! This was such an amazing experience for us and an honour to collaborate with such important local organisations. 🗑️🪸🐠

We are all super excited to get started on the projects being led by our team, which we aim to begin on Wednesday next week 🤞🏼.

Stay tuned for more updates on our adventures on Koh Phangan, Thailand 😎🇹🇭🪸🤿
