Week 4 has begun and marks the final week of the Walk The Width challenge! But we know, the only question on your mind is how did the team find week 3?!
In week 3, the team travelled 587.13 km bringing us ever closer to our 780 km total! This means that coming into our final week of the challenge we have just 192.87 km until we reach the Thai border. Once again, we have done some rough calculations and with our faithful friend Google Maps, we have decided that we are (roughly) at the Suan Pa Dong Kheng park and garden within the Buri Ram province. After a further Google, we found that the Buri Ram province is known for its football team, Buriram United FC, who are 1st in the Thai Premier League.
Anyway, that's where we are, or where we would be, if we were in Thailand.
In this past week, the team have been up to a whole array of adventures...
Maren has been at home in Stavanger, Norway and so has been walking through the old town with her family. But what is the 'old town' I hear you cry? Don't worry, Maren has set the scene and provide some photos:
"All the buildings were taken from up the fjords down to Stavanger by horse and cart in the 1800s. They're all historically protected and kept the same on the outside to keep the charm of the old town"

The week, in Laura's own words:
"[I] Went crazy with my very finnish mother and basically saw everything there is to see"
Laura has been visited by her mother this week so they have been making the rounds of tourist hot spots in Glasgow and the surrounding countryside. The went to the necropolis, they went to a castle were her mother owns 'the tiniest piece of land', they went to Glencoe, they went to Oban, they went to Loch Lomond, they went to the standing stones...are you exhausted from reading all that? Because they certainly are! They even met a parrot called Diego in Kelvingrove park so big shout out from all of us to Diego the parrot.

Kerensa was in London this week, also visiting their family, and went on two 'big' walks to get in their distances for Week 3 of the Walk The Width challenge. Both walks were completed with their long time friend, Aaliyah. The first was a spontaneous wonder into central London, starting in Highbury, North London, and ending at the Wetherspoons near Tower Bridge. The journey consisted of the pair seeing a street they wanted to walk down, and walking down it. Very spontaneous all round. The second big walk was over Hampstead Heath accompanied by Milo the dog. Milo is a jug, a Jack Russell Pug cross, with an overall 'wonky' look to him. He was very excited to be taken to the Heath.

The rest of the team have been completing their distances in Glasgow in between studying for their exams. You can read about Dylan's adventures at Ben Lomond in our third diary entry. In the fine words of teammate Jennifer when asked how she has spent this last week in regards to the challenge:
"[I] Have just been walking about lots"
Almost everyone on the team has their first exam on Monday so it will be interesting to see how far we make it this week...Although, for those of us who are actively procrastinating, we can't wait to get out in the gorgeous spring sunshine and stretch out our walks for as long as possible.
As usual, we are calling (quite loudly) for sponsorship to encourage our team to take to the streets and to fund our research. You can find our GoFundMe here where you should direct all donations.
Week 4 here we come!
