The expedition has finally begun. The main bulk of the team have arrived and preparations for the projects have started. Before all of this, team members Gregor and Fraser flew out on the 22nd of May to learn to scuba dive, aiming to achieve their PADI Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Emergency First Responder and Rescue Diver certifications in just 9 days!
For PADI Advanced Open Water, the pair went to the Phi Phi islands! Here they saw all sorts of amazing sea life, such as beautiful coral gardens, scorpionfish, lionfish, clownfish, cuttlefish as well as a couple of hawksbill sea turtles!!
After training was complete, the team met at the two houses where we will stay for the next six weeks!
Over the last couple of nights, we have slowly been adjusting to the heat and breaking in daily routines. Yesterday we also took a shore dive as a group to test out some of our equipment and practice some underwater skills.
Over the next few days we will begin pilot studies, try some free diving and also do a beach clean so more updates to come. Stay tuned!
