Walk The Width - Week 2

Today marks the first day of Week 2 of the Walk The Width Challenge but before we can go into that, how did Week 1 go?

First and foremost, William, Maren and Dylan along with their friend Ellise climbed Ben Lomond which really got those distances in and helped us surpass our totals for this week - we have 'travelled' 214.95 km of the 780 km that makes up the widest east-west point across Thailand. The team completely smashed this week out of the park, at this rate we will probably have to walk back again!

I have it on good authority that despite the high winds, the path up to Ben Lomond was sheltered so none of our team were blown away. However, the picture below suggests that William may not have made it back down again. Apparently they also initially did get lost so that doesn't bode well for our expedition...But disregarding the more juicy details, they had an excellent time, were lucky with the weather and made it up and down in one piece. At the very least, they made it to the pub at the bottom, from there its a mystery.

"It was a nice hike"

"The mountain peak had snow"

Paula has been in Romania this last week in her home town of Alba Lulia. She has promised that as this challenge progresses she will be sending pictures of its beautiful citadel which we are all very excited for; give the town a quick google because it looks amazing - its almost star shaped?

Jennifer has been in Dumfries for the latter part of this week walking through the picturesque Scottish countryside and has been clocking in her distances with a dog! Hold on to your hats because he is gorgeous! These two quotes followed each other in close succession so you had best believe that Jennifer is deadly serious in her love for Benn:

"Of all the dogs I've known in my life, Benn is my favourite"

"He's only 4 years old, he's got a lot of energy, he could literally walk all day...He's probably my favourite dog of all time."

The other members of our team, Kerensa, Laura and Ashlynn, have been in Glasgow the past week and although they didn't climb a mountain or meet a cute dog (as far as we know), their continued contributions has been invaluable. This is a team challenge after all. If you want to know what Kerensa got up to, check out this blog detailing their experiences from the first week: Walk The Width - Diary 1: Kerensa.

"I'm OBSESSED with your blog diary entry"

After hearing everyone's positive feedback on the first Diary Entry, we can't wait to get some other members of the team sharing how they have found this challenge. Keep your eyes peeled for updates on those.

Finally, this is a sponsored challenge and we are taking all monetary donations via our GoFundMe which you can find here.

Want to congratulate Dylan, William and Maren for their hike up Ben Lomond?

Want to show your appreciation for Benn the dog?

Want to thank Kerensa for writing the first Diary Entry?

Won the lottery and don't know what to do with the money?

Found 50p under your sofa?

We welcome donations of any size and please don't hesitate to get in contact if you are having any issues. As our expedition draws ever closer ('2 Months To Go' blog coming soon) we are in the final stretches of fundraising and any donations you have will be greatly appreciated. If you can't spare anything at the moment however, just sharing these blogs with your friends and families will help us immensely. But if all you need on this fine Friday morning is more pictures of Benn, head over to our Instagram and Facebook where you will be rewarded.
