We hosted a bake sale on Friday 10th December outside the Wolfson Medical Building on University Avenue, hoping to attract student's preparing for their winter exams. The team pulled together to prepare twelve different types of home baked goods. From carrot cake to vegan mince pies, there was something for everyone. Although the weather turned on us, as it often does in Glasgow in December, we received customers throughout the day and reached our fundraising target!
"I had fun! Until I was freezing..."
The apricot and earl grey loaf cake sold like, well, a hot cake, and the triple chocolate cookies decorated to look like Christmas puddings were incredibly popular. You can find the full gallery of bakes below:
If you are interested in any of the recipes, please let us know and we will send them your way. Or if you missed the bake sale but want to support our research, you can donate via our GoFundMe here.
We also received donations of baked goods from two Glasgow based bakeries: Freedom Bakery sent us a variety of bread and pastries, which attracted a lot of attention from passers by; and Chulo's Bakes sent us a collection of their stuffed cookies.
Thank you to both businesses and thank you to everyone who came along to buy our bakes or to chat about our research. If you are longing for a home baked snack (or a just a chat) we will be hosting another bake sale in honour of St Patrick's Day (March 17th) outside the University of Glasgow Library. We have some excellent bakers on the team (and some very ameteur ones) so there will be a whole host of baked goods for sale.
If you are interested in our research, project and location details, or full team introductions, you can find them on our website.
We've got several blogs on their way, detailing all of our fundraising activities (including our Into The Wild Ceilidh and Pub Quiz) and have one scheduled for our '2 months to go' mark; in which we will detail the progress of our planning and further details of our research plans.
Once again, you can find our GoFundMe here. Fundraising is a huge part of our research going ahead so any funds, of any size, will be greatly appreciated by our whole team.
Not long to go now! See you at our next bake sale,
The Thailand Team
